Hi everyone

I am new to this but has installed my DNS-320 on to my home network (apple) go me !

I now want to get more out of it and add things like all my music and get at it through iTunes

Also robe able to access the files (docs, music, video etc) using my iPhone / iPad when away from home

This is where my knowledge runs out. What things, apps or set ups do I need to get or perform to get these thing to work? You know how would be really appreciated!

SUGGESTION: a D-Link cook book - recipes to get this sort of thing done for newbies like me

Cheers
Steve

hello there :)

first you have to register to a service like dyndns (there's a similar service from dlink) to translate the dynamic ip of your modem/router into a web url. after this you have to configure ftp service on your dns and setting up port forward on your modem to gain access from internet

FTP will be not usable on a iOS device, at least without jailbreaking.
iTunes sharing does not work even over VPN to home network. HomeSharing seems to be conciously restricted by software (tried & tested) to local LAN segment.
As a DNS-325 user I am able to connect to my NAS share over public internet using D-Link's mydlink Cloud app. Unfortunately, only listening to music works for me. HD movies do not play over WAN.
For you, as DNS-320 user, D-Link Cloud is not an option, unfortunately.
One possibility that works for iOS is to open WebDAV share on NAS and use WebDAV-capable player on iOS, eg GoodPlayer.
Although GoodPlayer is also able to connect to SMB and UPnP servers directly from iOS.
