Add cameras and watch from distance
« on: May 09, 2013, 05:14:49 AM »

Hi, sorry if someone has asked this question before, but i'm not an IT expert and really couldn't find the answer.

I have 3 IP cameras (all of them are 930L) and leave them at the office. In my office it is easy to add those cameras to my D ViewCam and watch or record etc. But when i come home and try to access to those cameras from home, the program D View always shows those cameras as disconnected. What should i do to access to those camera from home?

In my office i have internet connection with the dynamic ip address.

Thank you for your advices :)

Your IP must be static, or static like through some sites such as no-ip.com.

How do you access the cameras from home?

You can set up some port forwarding on your firewall and access the cameras with the same ip address but different port number (again you will need static ip).

X.X.X.X:8181 -> Z.Z.Z.Z
X.X.X.X:8282 -> Y.Y.Y.Y

where X.X.X.X is your public ip adress and Z.Z.Z.Z & Y.Y.Y.Y are your private (internal) cameras ip addresses.

You will be able to open web browser for each camera, log in and manage it from remote location.

Not too sure yet how to connect straight to D-ViewCam software so you could see all the cameras in one place.

Additionally you could RDP from outside to your PC where D-ViewCam is installed but again you will need port forwarding configured on your firewall.
