Official firmware release 1.11
« on: May 11, 2009, 04:51:55 PM »

Hey guys,

We suggest you build a new config file from scratch due to the new code base change in the firmware. If you have a lot of custom configurations we suggest you do screen shots of each page of the routers UI.

Even though the router may have accepted an older config, the structure of the config file may have been altered causing an improper load of the file.

Ru-Fi-Oh,

You might want to add (or have added) this advisory to the release notes.  Just a guess there may be users who check for firmware updates who aren't even aware this forum exists.  If they have issues they'll either end up bugging D-link support for answers or will post one of those 'this router is no good' messages on some other forum.

With your experience you've probably noticed most problems are user caused rather than equipment/software/firmware related.

While I'm here.  I recall seeing an issue where users (of V1.10) clicked the box to turn off the additional log-on coding and the router would no longer boot.  As I recally they had to reset it to factory settings then reload the firmware to get the router to work again.  That isn't listed as a bug fix in V1.11.  If it's no longer an issue the fact that it's fixed should probably also be added to the release notes.

Cheers ;)

A couple points/questions:

1.  How do you go about creating a new configuration file then? Should I just backup the file again and reload it?

2.  Is there still an option to turn off the new character configuration when you log in.  It is very annoying.

3.  I don't know if it's a coincidence or not but my shareport connected USB Hard drive keeps giving me the "Delayed Write Fail Error", "can not save $MFT".  This is with the new shareport version.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Shareport utility.  I wonder if it's my enclosure case which actually has dual USB outputs.  I've taken to using just the one and it's been ok up until now.  Maybe it's not getting enough voltage.

I can see the directory and files but I can't access them anymore either.  I am going to try to reduce the caching and run the windows sync utility I read about.  If that doesn't work I guess I will order a new enclosure.

I can't use the old shareport utility (v.1.14, I think) with the new DIR-825 firmware, correct?

Yes, once you upgrade the firmware you should build configuration from scratch and backup the config in case you have to reset anything on your router.

You can turn of Graphical Authentication by going into TOOLS > ADMIN section of the routers GUI.

Shareport version 1.14 does not work with the new firmware you have to use 1.10.

Thanks.  Yeah, the new one I installed says 1.1.0 R1.

There is an issue.  I unchecked it but never rebooted.  I believe it must have decided to do so on its own at some point.  Now, I can NOT log in to the router.  The extra box and the "graphical authentication code" is NOT THERE.  However, after trying to log in, it gives me the Yellow Triangle with Exclamation Mark: "Please enter the graphical configuration code".

So I guess I need to reset it factory settings, reload the firmware and my saved configuration file.  >:(

edit: didn't have to reload the firmware, after doing a factory reset...Reloaded my config file from 1.01 and it seems ok.  Better keep entering that graphical code.... ::)

Also something must have changed with the shareport utility with the update because I can not the drive to load anymore while connected to it.  When I plugged it into a PC, it came up right away.

Thank you.  I actually had a problem with the wireless constantly rebooting.  I took screen shots and manually recreated the config.  All is good now.

I updated my  DIR-825 to this firmware, but I can no longer see who is wirelessly connected to my router under "Status -> Wireless". Also, an even more annoying problem is when I disable the "Captcha" feature, I can no longer login using the Opera web browser. thx

Update with pics:

Here you see my wireless laptop connected (there's also appears to be some GUI issues in Opera under guest access). http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/262/dlink1r.jpg

Here you see there's no information bing displayed under "Status -> Wireless" (effects IE too). http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/552/dlink2.jpg

When you disable Captcha and try to login with Opera, it refreshes back to the login screen. http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/5774/dlink3.jpg

The missing wireless client status bug just hit my gui also after I made a new port forwarding entry and rebooted.  This may have been I rebooted the router since the first time I loaded the firmware over 10 days ago.  Edit to ask: When I upgraded I used the old config file from 1.01.  Do you think I may be able to restore the "wireless client status" page by resetting and building a new file? If not, I don't want to bother going through that.

I just did a hard reset to default and I was able to see the "wireless client status" info.  I then put every page back to the way it was including about a dozen DHCP reservations and some port forwarding entries.  After about 15 minutes, I finally rebooted and the "wireless client status" info is gone again. >:(

I have the same problem. After resetting my router back to default it shows up, but after I configure the router it doesn't work anymore. When it worked, I used to use this setting a lot. I've enabled Guest Zone and I like to be generous with my internet connection (I rarely use all of my 775kb/s). However, if someone starts eating up all my bandwidth I'd like to know who's wireless connected. Since I live in the middle of the "college slums", I can have a lot of people connected at once.

Are there any DIR-825 A1 owners or users out there that have not had any problems at all running after upgrading to the latest firmware V1.11 ?  I know we hear about things when there are problems, but I am wondering what percentage of Dlink DIR-825 (and DIR-655) owners actually have installed the latest firmware version and are running continuously without incident nor problems.  It would be good to now this ratio of good/bad occurrences to gauge the degree of seriousness to get a new fix out.  I also want to know because I am hesitant to upgrade my new DIR-855 A1 to the latest firmware if it really is problematic for everyone who has tried it.  If there are a handful of people who have tried it and are having no problems at all, I may attempt to upgrade, else forget it. Same goes for my Dlink DIR-655 A4 still running old firmware V1.20.  I won't upgrade until I know for sure the firmware can work stable without nuisance lockups nor drop outs nor slow page loadings.

Dlink get to work!

This is just a friendly reminder to fix the active Wireless Clients list in the next firmware release. I see a lot of clients and it helps me to know who's currently active on my network. thx
