traffic shape on dual wan failover
« on: May 27, 2013, 12:30:39 AM »

in the guide provided by d-link the traffic shaping is only set to only one interface "wan1". So what about if I set my dfl-800 to dual wan failover and both wan has a different bandwidth. wan1 has 6mb and wan2 has upto 5mb. how can i set my traffic shaping?

you must create independent pipes and pipe rules to traffic on each interface.

Hello,

You can do this by Rule of Traffic Shaping, but for this to work your Failover must be ok.

Thank you.

The following are example of my rules:

1    drop_smb-all    Drop    lan    lannet    wans     all-nets    smb-all
2    allow_http            NAT    lan    lannet    wans     all-nets    http-all
3    allow_dns            NAT    lan    lannet    wans     all-nets    dns-all
4    allow_ntp            NAT    lan    lannet    wans     all-nets    ntp

In the Interface Group under Interfaces I made a group called wans which is compose of wan1 and wan2.
With this configuration the traffic transfer automatically from the wan2, but as I said you have to manually remove the cable from wan1 port to be able to detour the traffic.

may you have some ideas or suggestion regarding my problem.
