Hi,

My isp provider is Distributel and they say to fill the DHCP section of the routeur but dont know what to input.

Any help?

I presume they are referring to the WAN IP address, subnet and gateway information addresses for the Internet Set up, usually routers don't need to have these manually input however some ISPs do allow this. You'll need to ask the ISP if this is correct. There is a menu option on the router for DHCP or Static IP addressing for the Internet Setup. See if they will give you this information.

Now i made a factory reset and i cant reach the routeur.

power, status, wan, link 1 seems to shine and it looks like theres a communication between the zhone and the dlink but cant reach the dlink setup.

according to distributel you only have to set the dhcp server enable and thats it for the rest i suppose its Wan static ip adress.

but now how can i reach the dlink with http://192.168.0.1/ if it wont communicate?

any idea?

Make sure your PCs network settings are set up to automatically obtain an IP address from the router.
Check the cable connection between the PC and router. Use a good working LAN cable.

¤ Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

Here's what i did.

Wan : dynamic ip adress
setup exactly like on this page on http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di524_revc/h_wan_dhcp.html

DHCP: Enabled like here http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di524_revc/h_dhcp.html

Static dhcp disabled

and thats it thats all i did after resetting modem.

Why it doesnt work? Whats missing?

Is your PC appearing under Dynamic DHCP Client List?

Yes! in tcp/ip its all under automatic ip adress obtain. Anyway the modem works fine alone with the computer but connect to the routeur it fails.

You can see the modem and the routeur connecting to each other and even some paquets of data.

power on, wan on, except status always flash it never stay plain green except at reboot.

some say to try changing the IP of your D-Link router to something like 192.168.10.1 instead of the default of 192.168.0.1.

Do you use the PPPoE account information on the PC to connect when your directly connected to the ISP modem?
Check your Control Panel/Internet Options/Connections. If there is a DSL or PPPoE account information there, that should be removed.

There's nothing at all, its all empty.

I know that the modem zhone from the Distributel has its own account number and password. They suggested that i could try to reset the modem and erase a/n and pw and instead setup the ppoe from the dlink with the a/n and pw but i have my doubts.

The thing is the router is dated from 2005, is it possible its too old to automatically detect the modem setting and make the bridge?

Possible.
I would attempt to bridge the ISP modem if that can be done, then try to input the PPPoE DSL account information into the 524 router, name and PW and ensure ALways ON is selected. Once the modem is bridge and the 524 is configured. Turn off both modem and router. Then turn ON the ISP modem first and let it come to ready. Then turn on the 524 router. Ensure that your WAN cable from the ISP modem is connected correct on the modem and you connect the other end of that cable line to the WAN port on the back of the 524 router. Ensure your PC is wired to the back of the 524 using 1 of the 4 LAN ports in back.

Restart your PC. After the PC is started. Open a browser to 192.168.0.1, do you see the routers web page there?

I think im gonna call it quit for now. This is a rented modem and i dont want to mess it up since im gonna switch isp in july. i can live with  only one pc connected for now.
unless you have a brilliant idea that do not involve playing with the settings of the zhone modem ill just say thank you for now and be back in july if i dont find an alternative myself.
