Drive Formatting
« on: July 05, 2013, 12:54:15 PM »

Hi All,

I have just bought a new 2 TB drive to add to the device but having trouble getting it formatted, it goes through initializing but then sits at the formatting screen and never gets past 0% the other two drives that i had in it were fine although they were only 320 GB however the 2 TB drive is on the compatibility list!

Anybody had the same or have any Ideas??

Thanks

Alex

What firmware version is currently installed on the DNS-320?

Assuming you had only the one drive to start and are now adding the second you could try removing the first drive - DON'T put the new one in that slot - and see if it will format.  If it does replace the original drive and check you can see both.  If you can then proceed to set up the second drive how you want it.

Thanks for your help, for info i had to remove both drives, i had two previously, install just the new 2 TB drive and use google chrome as IE10 would not function correctly, then i was able to format the new drive and update the firmware.

As some of the posts on this forum show the 2.04 has a nasty tendency to slow file transfers down.

All our DNS-320 are on 2.02 and we see no real reason to change that because they do what we want them to do without problems.
