Would be curious if you downgraded back to v1.00 do the options reappear? Only if you have time to check. 

Yes they do. But 1.00 never had the NAT redirect option, which is what I need.

So in v1.00 there are 3 options for TCP and UDP, Port Restricted, Address Restricted and Endpoint Independent are the only options that users have the ability to select from.

Most of the time setting both of these protocols to Endpoint helps. However If they have taken them out in the most resent version, will need to see what can be done.

Hey, received information that possibly that you might need to set up a loopback operation under Virtual Server. "If you configure a server behind a NAT it is usually possible to loopback to the that address from the local network if the port was configured as a Virtual Server port."

I think I tried the loopback already and got an error due to the port already used or something like that. If I remember correctly, I could configure the loopback if I remove the port and IP from the port forwarding page. But doing that will not work for my needs. I have a Synology Diskstation DS412+ that I have hosting some servers that have to be port forwarded for outside access. Anyway, I'm still looking at my options.

Ya you need to disable any PF rules and only use VS I believe. See if you can give it another go.

I think this won't for my needs. I have to have port forwarding so I can access my servers from WAN. I may be wrong.

And I presume the ports need to be the same or the WAN connections so no chance of using a different port. Hmmm...
What kind of impact does it have if you use use the IP address of the LAN side server connection instead of using a URL? Do others need the URL or can they use an IP address if available?

Yes we can use the LAN IP, but doing so requires changing from and to the url and LAN IP. To give you an example, I have Cloud Station running on my Diskstation. The client software only lets one account to be logged in at a time. The url must be used for WAN access. If this router had the NAT redirect option, it would solve everything. Bu since it doesn't, the client must logout and login with the IP which causes the software to re-sync everything.

Understand...Seems like possibly that the 657 may not be a good solution and you'll need to find another Linksys router that has this "NAT-Redirect" as this option seems to be a Linksys feature. D-Link has told me that VS works as intended however there could be specific port level conditions that your application uses and a process where VS may not be the answer where this Linksys feature works.
"Well, it works just fine when used as intended. I'm afraid to say is not possible, because we don't know exactly the requirements of the configuration he is trying to implement. If he has a special configuration that requires port level settings that are not standard, you will need to move into a corporate level gateway or firewall, but even at this level, it will be best to know exactly what is the port requirements.  "

I think we've hit a feature barrier on what your asking the 657 to do and other than this, the 657 is probably working as intended.
