Install SqueezeBox Server on Dlink DNS 320
« on: July 16, 2013, 01:00:54 PM »

I'd like to use my DLink DNS 320 with my Logitech SqueezeBox Touch and not need to have a computer on as the server. All my mp3s are already on my DNS320 so I now need to connect the Touch to it and I think that means I need to install the Logitech SqueezeBox Server on the DNS box but I've no idea how to do that.
Read about "ffp" but the 'installation' process sounds somewhat hairy for someone who doesn't know anything about Linux

Is there an "easy" approach?

Hoping I get this right - there's a difference between 320 and 320L/320LW

As you state your device is 320LW (which is just a 320L with added wireless feature) all you theoretically need is to install, as an addon, the Logitech Media Server (formerly Squeezebox Server) from vtverdohleb page
http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/
Free registration but if you can donate as this guy does a hell of a lot of unpaid work which keeps DLink in business ;)

I've tryed to install that addon hundred of times but I always die in the same point.

After installing the addon package always appears the same message "Please download the Squeeze Center package from the Logitech web site place the package under Volume_1 folder."

I've did it, and checked that the downloaded file is under Volume_1 foder. I also untar the file under Volume_1 folder, but never appears the SqueezeBox Server application in the application window or in the installed addon list.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thnx.

I don't use this addon although I have installed and used Plex and Twonky which I believe do more than SqueezeBox.  I've since moved on from these to Kodi (installed on several devices but main for streaming is Android TV Box) with database stored on 320L

Sorry I couldn't help further but will offer assistance if you want to go Kodi way

I do believe the issue maybe because of an update but vtverdohleb has had to take a step back because of "funding" issues.. << sad
