Wireless Bridges and Gaming
« on: August 16, 2013, 09:44:00 AM »

Wanted to update this:

Any just to add to this, I tested with SB fully OFF in the following configurations:
DGL-5500
2.4Ghz, WPA2/AES Only
Xbox 1 connected to a DIR-868L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported Moderate NAT
Xbox 2 connected to a DIR-865L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT

Switched to 5Ghz, WPA2/AES Only
Xbox 1 connected to DIR-868L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT, game play was 3 yellow bars.
Xbox 2 connected to DIR-865L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT, game play was 3 yellow bars.

Switched to a DIR-857 as main host router.
Xbox 1 connected to DIR-868L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT, Will test game play status later. >Played last nite and mostly saw 4 green bars for gaming status.
Xbox 2 connected to DIR-865L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT, Will test game play status later. >Played last nite and mostly saw 4 green bars for gaming status.

Saw some games in 3 yellow bar and could have possibly been due to other gamers and there connections.

Both bridges are reporting 450Mb Wifi connections on the 857 status page.
Just had to reserve IP addresses for bridges and ensure they were out side the XBL QoS rule.

Over all, great gaming experiences with 2 bridges, 2 xboxes connected to the 5Ghz radio on the 857.
I'll test same thing on 2.4Ghz. I predict same results on the 857 with 5Ghz.  ;D

DIR-857 - DIR-868L/865L bridges
2.4Ghz, Single N/WPA2/AES Only
Xbox 1 connected to a DIR-868L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT, game play was mixed 3 yellow 4 green bars.
Xbox 2 connected to a DIR-865L in bridge mode - BO2 game status reported OPEN NAT, game play was mixed 3 yellow 4 green bars.

Gaming was good ok all, notice getting kicked out of a few game matches prematurely, sent to lobby while other players continued to game. Probably not getting good connections or some interferences on 2.4Ghz. This is not a recommended gaming setup.
