B1 rev - "save setting" result in 0k file
« on: August 27, 2013, 02:47:34 AM »

hello
Everything is said in the subject :-\

In "System management -> system settings --> configuration settings --> Save Configuration Settings", however i try to save, i'm getting an empty "backup" file, 0ko.
I've tried with linux, windows, android -  ie, firefox, chrome browsers. Always 0ko file.

Is anyone having the same probem with B1 ?

thanx

I have DNS-320_B1_FW.1.00b03 firmware.

Just try it, and the backup file it's well done. 25Kb and if I rename it to a 'txt' is full.

It seems no one else encounter this 0k file with original fw over b1 hardware...
Maybe my dns 320 is KO ?

Anyway, is there any other way to backup settings  ? over ssh maye be ?

I'm using the same FW version, 1.00 dated 07/12/2012 and it is working fine. It created a 6KB file...

In some cases there can be browser type and version incompatibilities that cause the Configuration Settings save to fail.

I guess not... i think my unit is going wrong.

just tried again : windows 7, ie8 + ff22, ff23
linux with ff23
android with last "chrome"

i also tried another linux distro, directly connected with crossover rj45, just the same.

I don't want to send it back just because of this (and an history of root access, please read my pm JavaLawyer).

is there another  way to backup my unit?

maybe i should try to upgrade to fw1.00b3...
thanx

TS, have you try doing a reset to factory default settings?

Nope....
If i do a reset, i will lost all my samba share and user, upnp settings, etc... that's the point !

Anyway, here is something strange : file type is "text/plan" - shouldn't it be text/plain ? Is the conf backup  plain text file ?

here is a screenshot

Well, you either get this problem sorted out now or face the issue of redoing the configuration should your NAS loses its settings.

I don't understand French but one thing is clear, the content of the backup config file is definitely not stored as plain text file.

i've done a factory reset, and it works... momentaneously

now it's 0K again, and i know why :

I've add upnp shares. One directory  failed and got stuck at 99% for hours (this thing happened the very first time, indeed).
I restarted the nas. Upnp status was ok. But from this time,  "system saving" is giving 0k file.
Deleted the 99% upnp share. Still 0k file.
Deleted all upnp shares: now it works, system saving is working and giving me normal backup file...

Seems like upnp doesn't like my 10000 titles  music collection !
Surely a bug.

How did you setup your music folder and upnp share?

How did you setup your music folder and upnp share?

What do you mean exactly ?
The music folder is in root folder (i should say "volume_1"), called "musique".
I used dns 320  embedded  upnp server - with web gui to add the folder. That's all.
