5010 Doesn't work with range extender please help

I spent several hours trying to set up a new 5010. Own the 942 so I'm no newbie without the skill to set these cams up in 10 mins. It doesn't like range extenders at least not with the same SSID for some reason. I move it back to within range of the router and its OK. The 942 however has no problem with my current layout/confitguration for WI-FI including being in the same location. This suggests it has a weak WIFI card versus the 942.

Anyone else experienced this? Any remedy. Right now to me the cam is not worth the cheap plastic its made from and barring getting my money back I feel it should be tossed in the rubbish as the weak range makes it useless. I put it adjacent to the extender and it shows up as offline. Yet the cam light is green. What gives? Move it back to where the base router is and all is fine and viewable on mydlink. Rubbish.

Update: I RMAed it back to the online retailer. They should send it back to China and dump it in a landfill there rather than have that junk on American soil.

A telltale sign it is junk is the GREEN light stays on even when mydlink says the cam cannot connect. Rubbish.

I am having the sam issue except my DCS-5010L camera never gets a green light with the extender that is right behind the wall where the camera is. If I move the camera inside it connects. I bought the extender so that I could place my camera where it would be best to monitor but will unable to get it to work. Any help would be great, I have contacted support several times with no real answers.
