So, I went to watch a preview video of The Division on my Xbox One the other night and it was stuttering and buffering. I couldn't get it to play. So, I started tested streaming Netflix from my PC tonight. Both are wired. I could not get an HD stream without buffering. Looking at the Netflix Stream Manager, I could see it was only getting, at most, 750k and not the 3000k needed for HD. I tested a variety of configurations, played around with Streamboost, moved the priorities around, turned it off, on. Rebooted. Nothing. I could see in My Network, the 5500 was only giving the device between 1-2 MB.

I remembered watching 3 different HD streams when I first installed the 5500 a couple of months ago. So, I decide I must have been on FW version 1.10, because 1.11 probably was not available at the time. I downgraded to 1.10 tonight and the video streams are working much better. No stuttering on the Xbox Live video on the Xbox One and full HD on the Netflix stream - streaming simultaneously. I could watch on My Network each device being given as much as 15 MB for the respective stream.

I'm sticking with 1.10 until something newer than 1.11 is released.

Well, I'll be dipped in...

Now I'm staring at a strict NAT. Apparently, FW 1.11 plays nicer with UpNp and the Xbox One. Looks like I'll be upgrading back to 1.11 tomorrow as I'd rather have a consistently open NAT and lower quality video streams than multiple HD streams and dealing with a strict NAT and Xbox Live.

I hope the next FW release gives me the best of both worlds.

OK. I really need to get some sleep, but this was bugging me. The one setting that I did not re-enter after the downgrade was the port forwarding settings. I did not think I would need to, because I had unchecked the check box a couple of weeks ago. So, I assumed the router was no longer forwarding those ports (since it shouldn't be). Maybe it is, though. I re-entered the port forwarding info, but left the check box unchecked. Several reboots of the Xbox later and the NAT has been open with each one. Now, maybe that check box doesn't do what I think it does (enable and disable the port forwarding rule). I don't know. For what it's worth, here are the ports that I forwarded (they're listed on xbox support):

TCP: 3074,53,80
UDP: 88,3074,53,500,3544,4500

Xbox Live video still appears to be streaming just fine after this change.

Last thing (sorry for all the posts). I am sure the D-Link engineers are aware of this, but the 5500 is classifying streaming Xbox Live video on the XB1 as Web traffic. It identifies Netflix correctly. It's good to see it taking advantage of my full bandwidth, either way.

That's why I tested it using my PC and streaming Netflix. Its not just the XB1. Its any streaming video on any device using FW 1.11. I think it was just more noticeable with Xbox Live streaming video because it does not vary the bit rate like Netflix does.

Its also interesting to note the 5500 still seems to be applying the port forwarding rule, even though the check box is unchecked.

I haven't seen this on my 5500 with v1.1x. I'm not currently using any PF rules....

I do have PF rules set up on the PCs I used to test it. They both have an open port for minecraft servers. Maybe there is a bug with PF (other than the check box bug).

From what I got back from D-Link, PF shouldn't need to be used at all:
"If he has checked to received the latest update from the cloud, Minecraft and BF4 are recognized gaming applications already.

I have not seen issues with HD streaming even with the different firmwares -- Streamboost can handle HD streaming without a problem unless the user is reaching the max coverage area for 5GHz or 2.4GHz."

I am receiving updates from the cloud. Minecraft is not an issue, just mentioned it in passing as the reason I had port forwarding on the PC I was using to test streaming video. Also, I don't currently play BF4. This was about streaming video being restricted by the router. I tried plugging directly in to the cable modem and the Netflix stream immediately started playing at the max 3000k bit rate. With the router and FW 1.11, the max bit rate never went above 750k.

I am wired to the router. Wireless is not the issue. There was no other activity on my network and, I'd be willing to bet, most of the other people in my neighborhood were fast asleep while I was testing the video streaming.

Thanks for the update. If they can't reproduce the issue, when I have a few hours to kill, I will record a couple of videos to show the difference between FW 1.11 and FW 1.10.

Ok, this should help with info...If you can detail the differences, this would help as well.

Please detail the HW device info, any thing like Video, network Mfr, apps being used to stream. Things like that.

Please test with 2.4Ghz, Single mode N, WPA2/AES only and disable Co-exhistence and set a manual Chl 6. Then test with no Wifi security temporarily and report results.
