This is for camera DCS-930L
I used to be able to go to Playback System -> Date Time Search (Upper Right) -> local Machine (Upper Left menu) -> enter username and password and my camera and all of the recording showed up, but when I came home today, the camera was not visible after I entered username and password under local machine and I cannot view any of my recordings.
1. Please let me know what could have gone wrong. I can still see and view my camera under Main Console and
2. Why is this process so complicated, shouldn't there be an easy way to view your recordings on a local machine? This has never been an issue with systems like Swann or Lorex
3. Why is the Playback System loaded from Main Console different from playback system loaded from Start Menu (they playback system loaded from main console is only willing to load files and I could not get it to open any of the recorded files)
4. Do I need to open Main Console and Click Start Monitor All every time I want to do motion recording, is there an easy way to set this up so it is performed automatically when the computer boots??
5. For some reason the motion recording stopped at a certain time, while the camera was still on and the software was running. What could have possibly caused this?
I am trying to evaluate Dlink ip cameras for home security, but it seems like its packed with a lot of unnecesessary features, while leaving the most important features like automatic daily motion detection recording and easy access to playback unreliable to the user. If someone can help me answer my questions, I would consider installing more cameras or recommending to a friend, otherwise, this product will have to be replaced with a more reliable brand.
