DIR-655 v1.31 Reboots (w/ DNS Relay Off)
« on: May 28, 2009, 12:25:17 PM »

I have a DIR-655 now running v1.31 and with "DNS relay" turned off.

With the "DNS Relay" feature on, the unit would lock-up occasionally and then it either would be completely dead and unreachable or the internet connection would not work.

Now with the "DNS Relay" feature off, the unit seems to function just fine traffic-wise, but in the last 15 hours my unit has rebooted twice for no known reason. After the reboot the unit is usable, but all connections are reset including my VPN connection. This last reboot was only 90 minutes after a previous one. Before that the unit was running for 13 hours just fine.

Obviously this release has some problems. I'm asking D-Link for a way back to a more reliable version of software until these issues can be resolved. Please provided a method to reinstall a previous version of firmware as this one is not ready for reliable usage. I can no longer recommend this product to others and the D-Link brand suffers as these issues continue.

Lastly: before my upgrade to v1.31 my unit had no problems and ran for days and weeks without intervention, so I do not believe my hardware is at fault.

I also experienced similar behavoir with the 1.31 firmware.

I followed the advise posted throughout the forum. To reset it to factory default then manually set up the router rebooting each time it asked. I also had to turn off DNS relay. The router has been running flawlessly since doing this.

Some refer to this method as 30|30|30, if you do a search it will shed some light on it. It is a bit more time consuming than using the saved profile but sofar it has been worth wild in my case.

Good luck

I too have performed the 30/30/30 reset for what it's worth. I'm told it doesn't do work on the 655. I'm in the process of connecting it to a syslog server and hoping it cries for help before it dies.
