Author Topic: Cannot enter with Setup-Wizard to install mydlink after first configuration w/o  (Read 11021 times)

During first configuration I did not activate/install the mydlink function of my DNS-320L. Now after filling the disks with files I wanted to activate mydlink by accessing the configuration with the setup-wizard from the CD again. Though I have tried many many times without and with password installed and entered thereafter, the wizard always refuses access. Through web interface with the same login/password no problem.
How cann I activate mydlink on the NAS after having configured it first without mydlink?

Additional info
I resetted to factory defaults via webinterface after I read this would not make any change to the data. Got a new IP-address via DHCP of my gateway in the net, can access webinterface with new IP-address and without password as admin, mail messages settings have disappeared as expected. Setup-wizard finds the NAS with new IP but still I cannot login with correct login admin and no password.

Got a useless answer from support: Install newest firmware and reset and use setup-wizard. Did so. No change. I cannot get beyond being prompted for login and password in the setup-wizard. The same login data which work on the web interface, are not accepted in the setup-wizard.
My last day to send it back to Amazon without extra costs.
Will do it, if no solution visible.

Did you try downloading the latest Setup Wizard software from D-Link? The CD that ship with the unit may not work properly if you updated your firmware. Additionally, recent changes to the mydlink service may (or may not) impact the specific version of the Setup Wizard you are using.

You will find a newer version of the Setup Wizard here: mydlink.com/support

Yes, I tried that too. But since I remember that during setup with the CD I was asked about mydlink installation yes or no, that item is included in the CD setup-wizard, too. And it finds the device with the correct DHCP given new IP number after resetting.

Are you creating a new mydlink account or trying to associate to a preexisting mydlink account?

I do not have a mydlink account yet. As much as I understood, the only way to create one is through the setup procedure of the DNS-320L. I searched at the mydlink website but there was no registering procedure offered. I was hesitating to start mydlink during my first setup of the new device because I first wanted to know more about it, I first installed everything like on my DNS-323 and DNS-320 without a mydlink account. After filling the disks with data I decided to start with a mydlink account. But unfortunately the wizard does not accept the otherwise working login data now.

Hi, I have a similar issue. Have you found a workaround or shipped back to supplier?

Sorry, I cannot offer any help. I have shipped back the item to Amazon some days ago. Just checked my support page, I had put my last question 7th Jan, no reply up to now. Maybe they are dead. I am surprised since I have 2 pieces DNS-320 and one DNS-323, which have been working quite well without hassle. So I thought why not buy one with the cloud function. But I can anyway use the other ones through FTP over internet, just more complicated and not automatic.

I just saw your post and that you have practically the same problem. I had the latest firmware and used the latest setup-wizard. No difference. And I am quite sure to remember that during setup with the CD I was asked about the mydlink but denied it then because I wanted to know more about it before installing.

MMM, upgraded the firmware and I have the same problem, it won't accept the blank password in the setup wizard but will via the web interface.

How can I sort this please?

Return it to the store where you bought it because it does not work as promised. I presume you are still within the period where that is possible. If D-Link does not respond to an apparently obvious bug in their software, they show that they just do not give a d..... about their customers after they have sold the item so there is no point in wasting more time into this problem. The least I would expect is that they send back a message that they acknowlede the problem and are working on it. Then I would have been ready to give them another chance and wait, since I found out that Amazon has an extended return period until end of January for stuff purchased before Christmas. But no, they just don´t react at all. So I have sent my DNS-320L back to Amazon and it has arrived there, within the next days I will receive the money back. The hassleness return policy of Amazon is the biggest advantage of their online-shop. Harddisks were from my older Conceptronic CH3HNAS where I have put them back again and filled with the data after formatting.

I escalated this issue to D-Link and after reviewing your posts, offered the following resolution:

A password must be set for the unit web admin interface in order to be allowed to link up to the mydlink™ services. In this case the customer is trying to leave the password for the web interface [blank]. He must have a password configured to add the box to the service.

Please post back and let us know if this helps.   ;)

Although I don't have the DNS-320L any more, I remember that I tried it also with a password. The same error message as withouth having a password and no chance to get into the mydlink registration. I think the argument is vane, since the Wizard itself told me to leave the password blank in case it does not work properly with a password. So why should the wizard suggest something wrong?

Today I received this message from D-Link support, unfortunately too late. They had been mute since Jan 9, so I supposed they wouldn´t react any more. Would still be interesting whether this one works now.
