New with DNS320 and first doubts ...
« on: January 20, 2014, 02:00:14 AM »

Hello everyone and thank you for your time, I commented that I have several questions:

- I have the disks configured in RAID 1, and looking at the post http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=52509.0 I thought about removing the RAID, my question is whether to downgrade the RAID data is lost the two disks.

- I have configured a printer and it works perfect from Windows 7, I need to know if you can print from Android or IOS, I have lost several programs and do not detect the printer on the network.

- I wonder if you can share files and folders or Dropox a publicly or with a username and password.

- Finally know if it is possible to install a USB Hub and so install a printer and another drive for backup.

Thank you very much!

Hi Ill try to answer these off the top of my head.

- I have the disks configured in RAID 1, and looking at the post http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=52509.0 I thought about removing the RAID, my question is whether to downgrade the RAID data is lost the two disks.

Not sure what you meant by "the RAID data is lost the two disks". There is nothing wrong with RAID 1 if you want redundancy in the event of a hard drive failure. If you are looking at a backup solution and possibly additional storage then you may be better off putting the drives as separate standard volumes and backing up externally to another NAS, PC or USB drive

- I have configured a printer and it works perfect from Windows 7, I need to know if you can print from Android or IOS, I have lost several programs and do not detect the printer on the network.

Possibly, but it wouldn't be supported or something tech support could assist on. There are two hurdles to overcome
1. You need a printer driver on your iOS or Android device
2. Your iOS or Android device also needs to support LP/LPR printing

Your best  bet without pulling your hair out would be to buy a printer that supports air print or some print via email. Yes you would be forking out more money but at least that is doable

- I wonder if you can share files and folders or Dropox a publicly or with a username and password.
Nope. Not on the datasheet nor documented in the manual

- Finally know if it is possible to install a USB Hub and so install a printer and another drive for backup.
I haven't tried that so I am not sure

Hello! Thank you very much for your answers. The RAID will keep like this, I'll look for a solution of Ethernet or wireless printer to print directly and will connect a USB drive 500gb for backup, file sharing on a publicly's a shame, I also sent an email to Dlink and I have said no to everything, you can not print from Android, share public folders either, neither usb hub (although this one and look for me and comment on the result proves)

Thanks again for your help and sorry for my bad English ...
