IP address for other router is similar, 0.2.
It has the same DNS address, same basic IP configuration.
It is like the 855 gets an address, then gets pissed off, or pisses off the modem. They never seem to talk again. They can talk, or the address would not be provided. I can refresh addresses all day long. But, that is the extent of the communications. The workstations think the issue is lack of a DNS. I used a know address for a web site I know in the browser, and it worked. I have connectivity. I was able to get to the site. Something is wrong or different with how the 855 passes off DNS requests. I just cannot see it.
So, chasing the DNS rabbit... When I enable Advanced DNS, I get a different primary DNS, and a secondary DNS. And, that works. And, it is a different DNS server than the one being used by the old router.
And, it works. At least for the tablet I have been using for troubleshooting.
It appears that the 855 has an issue with how it plays with the Brighthouse box when they need to collaborate on the DNS. The fact that it has a different server getting provided says something is going on.
Thanks for the help, I will be back if something else fails. I still need to switch things back to the 855 and configure it more to my needs.
