Hi,

I am having trouble extending my wifi connection. I'm using WPA2/PSK security.

I tried both the repeater and the Hot-Spot modes. If I use the same SSID as the parent wifi network, then the internet access gets extended for about 15 minutes or so and then turns to limited connectivity, overriding even the parent network. I have to switch the 505 off to regain my internet wifi connection from the parent network.

If I use a different SSID (in the hotspot mode), then it always shows limited connectivity in the new SSID for the 505.

I'd be glad to provide any extra details as required.

• What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
• 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
• Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
• Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
• What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
• What wireless devices do you have connected?
• Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones?
• Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?
• If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, HT 20/40 Co-existence and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

I'd check on trying to find a free and clear open channel. Since you have 10 other neighbors near by, could be an issue. See if you can find a manual open channel for the main host router, then connect the 505 and test.

Thanks resetting the channel manually works. But the net still drops off randomly and connects back on its own after a while. Any fix for that?

You'll need to review your main host routers configuration and ISP modem connection. Check your environment settings and adjust for any neighboring WiFi congestion:
