Power Problem on DNS323
« on: June 01, 2009, 08:41:54 PM »

I have a DNS-323 that shuts down. As near as I can determine the electrical outlet is always on, however, frequently the DNs is powered off. I am running firmware of 1.07.
I have a couple of power questions:
1) can I set the DNs-323 to wake on LAN?
2) Is there a way to ensure the unit stays on if hybernation is disabled?
3) is there any kind of remote wake up command that I can issue?

Thanks so much.

1) No.
2) No.
3) No.

You need to locate the cause of your power problem and fix it.

Do you have a UPS?  What happens if you connect the DNS-323 to it?
Do you have a loose connection somewhere?
Do you have frequent power outages?
Do you have a digital clock or any other device with a digital clock that you could connect to the same outlet?

Many years ago I was staying in a suburb of Miami that had significant construction going on, new roads being built, new housing developments, etc. and we had outages on a daily basis, even though I never once saw the power off, I would wlak through the door and have to reset the clocks on the stove, microwave, VCR, etc., etc.,

We don't have a UPS, I had already thought of taking a digital clock to site to prove. It is certainly the easiest way to go.
Perhaps, if Dlink looks over these forums I could be so bold as to suggest a power-up on LAN feature for a future release.
Thanks for the help!! :)

These forums are run by D-link.

The next firmware version (1.08) should have an auto power on option, but only if you have C1 version hardware, I'm not certain if they plan to offer WOL or if the new hardware supports it (the A1 & B1 versions do not.

WOL is not supported.

My units (3 of them) have been up for over 200+ days
