DNS-327L - Firmware update issue
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:25:34 AM »

Currently trying to update firmware but after 30 minutes it's still in progress (and yes it is a wired connection). How long should this take? What do I do if it fails?

What browser are you using?

Browser = Internet Explorer 11. O/S = Windows 7

When I select the new firmware file and click on apply I get the rotating circle icon under which it says 'Warning: Firmware update in progress. Please do not shut down or restart the ShareCentre' but nothing seems to be happening.

After several hours, I pressed escape (which stops the animation) and thankfully it doesn't appear to have bricked the device - I can log back in, but the upgrade hasn't taken place. I tried the update a second time, making sure other network connections to the router were disabled (in case they were affecting the bandwidth), but no difference.

Any suggestions?

IE11 has proven problematic for a number of users. You may want to try a lower version of IE or Firefox.

Just used Chrome and the update seems to have worked (there was a % counter within the rotating circle and after a few minutes it rebooted)

Now I have a new problem (when logging in using IE11 or Chrome)

When I log in I have three buttons at the top - Home, Applications, and Management, but only the Home button is blue i.e. live. There is nothing listed under my folder or my favourite applications, and clicking on add/remove does nothing. In fact I can't do anything except logout.

However I've just tried FireFox and the icons are ok. But how do I get them back in IE11 (they were ok before the firmware update)?

I'm wondering if the latest version of Java plays into this in concert with new UI components in the latest DNS-327L firmware. Please take a look at the following FAQ post: Network Cameras - Lost "Live View" After Installing Java Version 7 Update 51

Please post back and let us know if this helps.  :-\

Same problem here, even with another browser (Opera 12.16). This happened right after updating the DNS-327L firmware from 1.00 to 1.01.

At least it still works with IE8 and (in my case) with Chrome. However, it would be nice to fix that bug. As I said, it worked in firmware version 1.00 and I did not change anything on my PC since then (especially I run exactly the same Java version than before)

Are other users having issues using IE11 with the latest DNS-327L firmware release?

I found a (the?) solution for the bug with the disabled buttons: After reloading the web interface website with F5 it works, again.

It seems a script with javascript functions etc. was changed by the firmware update and the browser still used the file from the browser cache.

I use Firefox and also had the web interface non responding keys problem.
This happened rarely ( 1 or 2 times) not only after upgrading to 1.01 but also with the previous version.

Pressing F5 only didn't solve it.

But pressing CTRL+F5 did.

There is no standard what F5 does in a browser. For example, Opera re-requests all files from the server. If you have a browser that prefers files in the browser cache (like firefox) you need another shortcut (like ctrl-f5). In case of problems, clearing the browser cache should work as well...

I have the same issue on safari 7.0.2

Home page URL that failed
http://NASip/web/home.html?v=8401878

After refreshing the page, here is the correct url :
http://NASip/web/home.html

Note that i succeed to reach other page by typing directly others URL (in the cache of the browser) :
http://NASip/web/management.html?id=system&v=1394276956682
http://NASip/web/application.html?v=1394278090423

Waiting for the next firmware...

Thanks to all that posted answers to troubleshoot the issue with the browser cache after firmware upgrade to 1.01b9.
Thanks.
