please excuse my ignorance.   I am 80 years old with a new DIR-636L router, which is used for two computers and a phone.   My simple question is can I measure the total down/uploads on the three devices through the router.  If positive, How?   Thanks for any help

• What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
• What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
• What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
• What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?

Measurements should be taken by wired connection only as wireless can be inaccurate due to many variables in Wifi settings and environment.

Speed testing can be done my many various speed testing sites like speedtest.net.

You'd need to install packet capture software on each device that records the total amount of usage...The 636 has a over all packet capture that the router sees with all connected device..it's not device specific.
