dns trouble
« on: March 21, 2014, 03:17:38 AM »

hi
i'm using a DSR500N
i've a network on 10.100.4.X
a static route with 10.150.1.X

on my network, i need to join a hostname (web server) on the 10.150.1.X

in SETUP, Newtork Settings, DNS Host Name Mapping, i've
hostname : the address of the website i've to join
ip address : i've the IP address of the webserver on the lan 10.150.1.X

doesn't work :(

the route works

If i write manually in the file "hosts" of a local computer, that works
But i have hundred computers and then i would like that the discovery of the DNS get by the DLINK...

Somebody can help me plz?

tks

Alexandre.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Have you reviewed the User Manual for any information on configuring this DNS Host Name Mapping?

If there isn't any information there, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Let us know how it goes...

I found with my DSR-1000N I had regular DNS timeouts or disconnections if I was using a DNS server other than my ISP.  Might be good to give it a try to see if it solves your issue.
