Hope you read that there is no possibility of Downgrade to 1.12 EU version.
You have to stay with it until there will be a 1.20EU .

Yes, I got that, but upgraded anyway. Still room for improvement on signals...

A new firmware will not improve the range, especially of the 5 GHz radio.
This is limited due to the 5 GHz signal.
It will work fine in a wide open room but walls and other obstacles will affect the signal more negatively than 2,4 GHz signal.
The wireless is limited by law in its max transmit power so the only improvement we may see in future are better drivers which give us a little bit more speed.

Hello Lizzi555,

Can you tell me if the US firmware on EU hardware provides all the languages for the interface, or only english? thank you.

Can anyone tell me why I should upgrade to this version? I'm on 1.12 EU now.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that is a personal question, if you can't answer it I wouldn't go there.

I will give you my best reason against it though, wireless transmission laws are different.  I don't know how they compare, but I would imagine max power as well as available channels change to some degree.  I would research into this before you run into the possibility of having an device with less power output (if US limits are lower [again I don't know]) or that is illegal (if US limits are higher [again with the not knowing]).  This just seems like a lose lose proposition.

I was just curious. I have no complaints so far with my wired connections. Just the DWA-160 gives me worries.

that's fine, I have just never understood the mentality that demands the newest firmware when their current solution works (I don't know if that was the case for you).  I also know I don't want a call from the FCC or their EU equivalent.

Stay with your 1.12 version. It won't help you with your DWA if you update.
I have a Rev A DWA-160 and I tried all firmwares and all drivers I could find.
It is not the fastest...

The latest driver I got for the EU version is on the German D-Link FTP server. ( ftp://ftp.dlink.de )
At least it is very stable in both frequencies.

The firmware will not change your channels (1-13 in most European countries) and most likely the Max TX power is also stored somewhere in a read only memory.
I did not see any difference after the update. (max 20dBm in Europe).

But the best answer is Fatman's first sentence -> Bulls Eye  ;D

Lizzi,

Which drivers do you have for the DWA-160? I have the A1.
I have 11/21/2008,3.1.0.104 (v1.40) These work fine so far for me.
My DIR-855 is Rev A2. (1.12EU)
