PPTP VPN Issue
« on: June 10, 2009, 01:32:19 PM »

Replaced an old 824VUP with a DIR330.  I can connect via PPTP with no problem, I can ping the systems on the network with no problem, I just can not browse folders and files like I did with the 824.

Any suggestions

Thanks

This router does not support NETBUI rebroadcasting.  You will need to reference remote resources by IP.

Fatman,

Thanks for the response.  Please help me understand what I need to do now.  The files I am trying to access are on an XP box in my home office.  If I understand you correctly instead of mapping a drive to the computer name, I now need to map a drive to the IP address of that XP box and then to the folders/files I need?  for example: \\192.168.0.110\my documents\ ???

Thanks again for your help.

Assuming that machine had a share called "my documents", that is 100% correct.  Your best bet might to be just to browse to the machine in explorer using just it's IP, then find your folders that you need regularly, and map a network drive using the path you found in your explorer window.
