Greetings, all!
I have a problem and would like some wisdom here.
I used to be in IT about 10 years ago, but I left that stressball for life as a mailman. I do work on the side to try to keep my skills sharpened.
I have been doing some work for a local daycare facility. They have had much of their equipment since 2001 when the daycare opened. I have only recently convinced them to begin upgrading their computers and such. While upgrading, we had an issue with some of the networking and made a backup of the configuration used in their switch (a older DI-707) just in case it died before we had a chance to upgrade it. Well, it just did. I picked up a different unit (same model) on the cheap and thought I'd just restore the configuration file (.bin) to the new switch and voila! Getting into the thing was easy, MAKING a backup file is a breeze, but restoring FROM a backup is proving to be difficult. I'm just not finding a place to restore a file. The firmware is the latest. I would hate to have to reprogram this thing from the ground up, as there are 7 ip cameras through virtual ports, 3 workstations, a wireless ap and a network printer. All those ports would take lots of hours to research and recreate (I am not a whiz at the camera system thing) and cost the customer $$$. A simple restoration would be done in 2 minutes and theoretically, everything would be as we left it in the last unit.
Your thoughts, please...
