Wifi SKYPE phone optimal settings?

I have two Skype phones the Belkin F1PP000GN-SK and the Netgear SPH200W. Are there any optimal settings? Both seem to have signal problems every now and then. I'm not sure if it loss or just lag.
Since they are for in home use they will be only used with the dir-655.
