stock config file?
« on: May 27, 2014, 02:43:01 PM »

Does anyone know if I can download a stock 2332L config file somewhere?

Here's the reason.  I have a few of these cameras.  Most of them no longer accept changes to their configurations via the web interface.  That is, I can log into the camera, go through the dialog to add an event (for example), click Save, and the changes are not committed.  The only way I can change their configs is to download the config files from the cameras, edit them by hand, and then upload them again.

I would like to stop doing that.  The only thing I can think may fix the issue is to restore the cameras to factory default.  But I don't really want to do that, because I'd lose their network settings, and my cameras are all on WiFi, exterior mounted, and would be a pain to get down and brought in for configuration via network cable.  (Plus, their power adapters are all run through the walls to outside, so I don't have any way to power the cameras indoors anyway.)

Thus, I'm hoping to get my hands on a factory-fresh config file that I can put my network settings into manually, and upload to one camera to see if it fixes my save problem.  (I'm not fully confident it will, since this issue started before I began making manual edits to the files, but it's worth a shot.)  Any idea if D-Link makes this available anywhere?

D-Link does not provide any config files for download. A more pressing question is why you're experiencing this issue.

What browser and version are you using? The most likely cause of this issue is a browser/Java compatibility issue.

Safari on Mac OS.  I do agree that I'd rather know why this problem has developed, and on more than one camera.  You don't need Java to configure these cameras, so that's not it.

I should have wrote "browser and/or Java compatibility issue". The firmware on these devices seems to work best using IE in general.

Would other DCS-2332L owners with Macs please pose their experience creating (and using) Configuration Settings files using Safari?

Do you have an iOS device (iPhone or iPad)? I have done config changes in the past on both of those devices when the computer was being used for other things. The screen is a bit small but pinch to zoom works fine to change fields.

Interesting thought.  I couldn't remember the last time I did camera config via the iPad, so I gave it a go and it worked.  I also tried the same configuration change on the Mac and it did not take.  So, iOS good, Mac OS bad.

I'm going to have to do some experimenting now.  I've got one Mac running Mavericks where I definitely see the problem, and one running Mountain Lion where I'm pretty sure I see it, but I use that one less so will have to double-check.  I will also check a browser on each computer besides Safari.
