I want to enter a link to my DCS-2332L (which works as webcam) to a webcam-directory.
If somebody tries to click the url "htttp://mywebcam.com/image/jpeg.cgi" it says:

401 Unauthorized
Your client does not have permission to get URL /image/jpeg.cgi from this server.

and displays a popup to enter user-id and password.

I'm looking for the correct syntax with direct link to the jpg of my 2332 without the need to enter user-id and password.

Any ideas?

I think that's the right URL.  I've noticed the camera will serve the image without authentication when requested at that URL on the LAN, but when requested via the WAN (Internet) it wants the ID and password.

@cmontyburns: your notification is correct, but doesn't solve my problem.

How can I provide an URL for users accessing my cam from WAN/Internet without user-id and password (just to see the jpg, no admin) ?

Any suggestions?

What I was saying is that I don't see a way to do it, since the camera seems to want you to authenticate when access that URL from the WAN.  That is the only URL I am aware of for fetching an image from the camera.

in the meantime I found out an URL working for some webcam-directories:
http://guest@mywebcam.com/image/jpeg.cgi?user=guest

or

http://mywebcam.com/image/jpeg.cgi?user=guest

This syntax works without password (I added within the admin-section of the cam a user "guest" without password.
Unfortunately it's not working for everyone. I'm still looking for another URL which can be used for everyone.

If somebody tries to click the url "htttp://mywebcam.com/image/jpeg.cgi" it says:

You have an extra "t" in that URL.   htttp should be http.

There is no open/unauthorized access.
