While we're on the topic, could someone advise on whether this is possible and if so how to set this up :-
1. ISP's NAT'd router has it's own 192. address range and is dhcp.
This is fine.
2. DIR-880L is NAT'd and has its own separate address range and receives its address from the ISP's router via a dhcp reservation on the ISP's router.
The 880L is wired and wireless and a dhcp server for it's own address space and uses dhcp relay to the ISP's router.
This is fine (it was used on a DIR-655 for a long time).
3. I have a DAP-1650, which I would like to hardwire plugin into the DIR-880L and :-
- the 1650's 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz to have separate SSIDs to the 880L
- the 1650 be a dhcp server for its wireless clients (in addition to the 880L to stay as a dhcp server)
- the 1650 be configured with different hard-coded DNS settings (eg getflix DNS servers)
- the 1650's clients to be given dhcp addresses by the 1650 as well as it's hard-coded dns addresses
- setup static routes in the 1650 to redirect some nominated traffic to other places
- if possible, the clients of the 1650 and of the 880L to be visible to each other in a "shared" address space eg across 10.1.1.x
-- this, I do not how to do...
if something like this is possible, I could attach wireless clients to the 1650 and they'd use different DNS to anything attached to the 880L, but they'd both see each other OK by IP address since they share an address space
Well, that's the thought anyway.
