Network share problems
« on: July 17, 2014, 10:28:33 PM »

Hello,
Finally I found how to map the USB storage from anywhere without share port

Now I am trying to setup a network share to access USB Storage with my WDTV LIVE PLUS media player

With WDTV connected to the Ethernet and set the Lan Domain name to WORKGROUP in the router setting and the same name at the WDTV
After try many times I reboot DIR868L , then Turn on WDTV,  wait until connected to the LAN and WORKS!!!
The speed was very good and a 1080p movie plays and search with out chopping

The only problem is when I turn off the WDTV, and Turn ON again, the WDTV don't show the network share and USB HHD storage anymore.
Then I have to repeat to re-establish the network share
Turn OFF WDTV
Turn off Dir868L
Turn On Dir868L
then Turn On WDTV

Do you know any clues how to fix this issue?

Thank you!

Try setting up either a Reserved IP address for the WDTV ON the router or set a static IP address on the WDTV...

Thank you Furry
I tried that but only works once until I Turn off/on WDTV
I notice that name of the device shown in DIR868 settings change between WDTVliveplus to unknown

Do you think this could be the problem?

Thank you

Does this Device have any FW updates maybe? Seems like the device isn't keeping the IP address or not hand shaking after a power cycle.

Is Enable Multi-Media Streaming enabled for both IPv4 and IPv6 under Advanced/Adv Networking? You could try disabling both of these as a test too.

You might contact the Mfr of this device for help and information as well.

Only IPv6 in enabled.
The device have the lasted FW.
I dont know what happened but now when WDTV turn off and then on, works i test power cycle 10 times and works.
I didnt set static Ip. Enabled Automatic in WDTV network setting.

I will do more test to understand what changed.
