Another "I can't see" thread
« on: July 24, 2014, 11:01:32 PM »

Greetings!

We use a DNS 320 at work and I am having problem accessing my DNS.
I can log in using its IP through a browser (Mozilla),
but none of us is able to see it in Windows (7).

I don't know if it helps, but yesterday a guy came to fix the phone and fax lines.
After he left we had no internet access. He returned and later I realized I couldn't access DNS.
Any idea?

Thanks a lot in advance

PS: I have little-to-none knowledge on networks

In an ideal world you would get the person that maintains your network to come and check it.  Since this is not an ideal world you can do some checking yourself.

I assume your lack of internet access was caused by the phone guy unplugging something so you start there.
Find the internet modem/router and check that all the cables are plugged in.
Then check that the cable from the DNS-320 is plugged in at both ends.
Keep following cables until you are sure they are all plugged into working routers and/or switches (we had a case where half a network went down that was traced to an unpowered switch - unpowered because the cleaner had pulled the plug to use the power socket).

Once you have the network up and running again you can search the forum for ways to ensure that win7 can see and connect to the DNS-320.
