I have been unable to get the email alert to work or the FTP. Every single time I save it then go back to test my settings both yield the frustrating "Send a test mail failure" and "Test FTP failure".

I am running 1.12 FW.

I have nothing special going on with the FTP settings:

FTP Server/Port: myserver.com Port: 21
Username: user@myserver.com
Password: ****
Path: <BLANK>
Filename Prefix: <BLANK>
Interval: 300
Passive Mode: TRUE

I have tried it with passive mode as FALSE, it still does not work. The username and password are correct, I chuck it into Filezilla and it works fine.

Email Settings:

Recipient E-mail Address: user@gmail.com
SMTP Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
User Name: user@gmail.com
Password: ****
Sender E-mail Address: user@gmail.com
Interval: 600
Use SSL-TLS: STARTTLS

It doesn't work. I have tried with Outlook.com SMTP, BT SMTP and none of it works. It's like the whole alerting module in this camera is broken in this firmware.

FTP was working yes. I also reset this unit to factory defaults but to no avail. It's still on 1.12.

I have spent countless hours putting in all sorts of settings, creating simple passwords (thinking that it didn't like complex characters) but none of it works. It's like it refuses to connect to either Gmail or the FTP server.

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
• What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

What Mfr and model # is the main host router?

There a model # for the ISP modem? Just checking for NAT on the ISP modem...

The modem is a VM Super Hub - it is being used in modem mode only.

Try reserving the IP address for the camera on the main host router.

Test with this IP address in the routers DMZ as a test for both email and FTP.
Could be a configuration maybe...

OK I got this working now. Was in fact it didn't like my static IP settings. I did not put the values for fields IPv4 Primary DNS or IPv4 Secondary DNS. I was hoping it would actually pick up on those automatically. After completing this, it worked.

Now both FTP works and email works - with Gmail! Hours of frustration. I have now managed to get it working with port forwarding to 10080 so I am able to view it over the Internet.
