Is the Dlink DNS-320 A2 NAS is not compatible with the B2?
« on: August 20, 2014, 03:04:27 AM »

So I have 2 DNS 320 A2 NAS, one with 2 HDD in RAID 1 config and anohter with only 1 HDD also RAID 1 configuration. So I needed more NAS drives and bought two new DNS 320 to find out they were the model (B2), however when I insert an old HDD with data on it which is read by the A2 chipset, it does not work on the B2 and I have format it in order to use it (which I cannot format since it contains important data).

Is the A2 chipset no compatible with the B2?

Note: I already tried updating for the Firmware 1.02 or trying various different disk types but the amber light shows on the B2 while if I insert the same the HDD on the A2 it works fine.

Thanks

First point.  Why do you have important data on a NAS without a backup?

Second point.  Why should the B2 chipset be compatible with the A2 chipset?  After all it is supposed to be an improvement.

Backup your data then setup the new NAS as a new unit and then restore the data to it.  Just remember that RAID 1 is NOT a backup, it just allows you to keep on working id a disk goes down.
