Port Forward issue on DSL 2770L
« on: August 21, 2014, 02:07:53 AM »

I created a virtual server entry to forward external requests to port 3333 to the same port at a computer in my network, where I run a web server locally.

However, when I enter in a browser my external ip:3333, nothing happens (after a short delay) and the expected page does not show up.

It's frustrating that Dlink doesn't provide a clear Port Forward menu in 2770L.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your modem? Look at sticker under modem.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the modems web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection

Hardware version A1, firmware eu_1.01 (I had installed latest 1.02, but faced problems with wireless network and local representative suggested going back to 1.01)

I am using latest Safari and latest Firefox for my access to router menu.

How to create a port forward setting?

Just input the IP address on which you need the ports to go to and input the port numbers that need forwarded to that devices IP address. Should work.

I'd review the user manual for setup information regarding this...DSL modems differ from DIR series router web pages and features...

Hi

There are a known problem with DSL-2770L and port forwarding.
Check if SPI is disabled in "Advanced - Firewall & DMZ".
If not then try to disable it and see if the port forwarding are working.

SPI are per default disabled, due to the Port Forward problem.

Hopefully DLink will fix this in next FW update, whenever this happens.
I guess it's not around the corner, like the other DLink FW upgrades  :(

Also for using Port Forward, try disabling uPnP...

Hi

Region is Europe and I use DSL-2770L_A1_EU_1.02_04152014.bin.

Upnp are disabled.

Port forwarding only works when "SPI" are disabled.

Was the FW update applied using the following?
FW Update Process

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. The more users phone in about this, the sooner the problem should be fixed by D-Link.
We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
