UpNp server? >:(
« on: June 20, 2009, 08:41:26 AM »

Hi,

Just got the 323 and a large part of the purchase was to serve my many Onmifi DMS1 boxes with the upnp server. These boxes work fine with standard servers like twonky, tversity, etc, as does the music content.

Spent a long time copying over 80 GB of music to the device and managed to get some music playing from the bottom of the folders starting with W at the start of this. Great I thought. JUmped the gun there a little.

Then I find after all the files and folders are copied, that the folders are only displayed from PR onwards.?

The DMS1 then tells me it cannot play what is being served. These are bog standard mp3 files.???

Playlists of .m3u with EXTINF entries will also not play.

I placed the root of the server at Volume_1/Music, yet when I go into the DMS1 and select folders from the tree the first folder I get is Music.??

Does anyone please have any tips for getting this server to work properly, or it is going back.

I have tried a manual refresh of the music, with no change. FW is 1.06

TIA

Can anyone please tell me what the media server is on the 323.?
Someone suggested trying to disable DNLA support. Is this possible.?

TIA

It uses mt-daapd/firefly

You can try disabling the iTunes SERVER under the Advanced tab
then enable the UPnP AV SERVER also under the Advanced tab

I have read a review at cnet about the Onmifi DMS1:

The Omnifi DMS1 combines superior wireless stability with solid support for online audio services--except iTunes.

Thank you Chill.

I only tried the UPnp server, which was disabled as was the itunes server on purchase in fw 1.06.

The DMS1 is a great box and works with a lot of servers, sadly not the DNS323 server.
I also cannot get playlists to work of the #EXTINF format. :-(

Currently trying a DMS1 with Openfi using the NFS server app with fw 1.08. Already locked the box up once.
