No,  but that is interesting, have you? Must admit the dlink firmware is driving me nuts,  been looking at Synology unit,  but if this firmware gives me a stable unit then I shall be happy.

Do you just flash the firmware?

Hi,

no i didn't, but kept searching, and apparently it is still in a betamode for the DNS320L.
I definitely think D-Link is dead for me.

Trying to figure out if you just flash it like a new firmware upgrade, think you do. Not found any install instructions yet.

You flash it like normal firmware, but im not sure how well it will run or if it will brick your nas!

Just be sure your device is supported. If it bricks you can reinstall the dlink firmware, but its out of my knowledge and im just waiting for the dns-320l to get cheap again..

How would you flash a bricked device? Can you sideload it?

aye that requires soldering and setting up a boot system. That ain't gonna happen, if I bricked it, it would become a cabinet for my paint brushes or something and I'd get a Synology instead...

For me, freezing when moving large files and P2P. I have to manually unplug and replug at least once a day if I am doing anything like that, which is really annoying on occasions when I am 1-200 miles away from the box. It will sit quite happily if you have nothing for it to do..

A stable version of Alt-F has been available for the DNS-321/323 for along time now.  Here's an FAQ
DNS-321/323 - Alternative Firmware - Alt-F.

Earlier this year, a new version was released that supports the DNS-320L (I presume this is the file you are referencing). There are a good number of members on this forum who have been using Alt-F for years on their DNS-321/323. This latest DNS-320L is fairly new -- I haven't gotten around to updating the FAQ post to reflect this latest version. Thus far, I haven't read any accounts of members in this forum installing Alt-F on the DNS-320L.

Yes, since seeing the post I have been watching the forum posts, the 320L Alt-F firmware is only just supported really, the sys does not show correct temps and fan control etc, so I shall keep watching before I make the leap to either Alt-F or a ds213j.
