It isn't listed on the US support site, just the Canadian one and it doesn't list release notes.

It looks like the US 1.01 and the Canadian 1.01 might be different as well.

US version "1.01B09" has a posted date of 06/30/14.
Canadian version "1.01" has a posted date of 07/21/14.

A binary compare shows they aren't identical files.  My first guess would be french language support but the drop down for my router lists 12 languages including french so it would seem odd to cut that out for the US.

I am in Canada but it isn't readily apparent which version I am running via the auto-check feature as the version and date listed on the Management - Upgrade page is:
Current Firmware Version:   1.01, Thu 12 Jun 2014
Current Firmware Date:   2014-06-12 20:29:00

I haven't tried to manually load either the Canadian or US 1.01 versions or the Canadian 1.02 beta version at this point.

I loaded the 1.02b01 beta firmware tonight and the version and date listed on the Management - Upgrade page is:
Current Firmware Version:   1.02, Wed 16 Jul 2014
Current Firmware Date:   2014-07-16 14:33:00

I haven't noticed any difference but it didn't brick the router so I guess that is a plus.

I just moved back to the 1.01 version listed on the Canadian site as some wireless devices would just keep dropping the connection (it would continually connect, then several seconds later disconnect).  It didn't happen all the time or to all wireless devices, just seemed to pick a device for the day to have the problem.

The 1.01 version from the Canadian site lists the version and date on the Management - Upgrade page as:
Current Firmware Version:   1.01, Wed 25 Jun 2014
Current Firmware Date:   2014-06-25 09:32:00

Which is again different from the 1.01 the autoupdater installed when I first got the device (see my earlier posts).

It would be nice if the people responsible for the Canadian site could post release notes or if someone from D-Link could provide some information on the various flavors of 1.01.

I just moved back to the 1.01 version listed on the Canadian site as some wireless devices would just keep dropping the connection (it would continually connect, then several seconds later disconnect).  It didn't happen all the time or to all wireless devices, just seemed to pick a device for the day to have the problem.

I have the same issue, after more than 24 hours some wireless devices drop the connection, and reconnect again, endlessly. A router restart fixes the problem, but I cannot restart every day, and I don't think it is a router issue, just a software one. This was with 1.02b13. I contacted D-Link and they sent me a newer version of the firmware (I am from Europe btw), which seemed to work fine, but I couldn't use it as I was not able to see the external HDD connected to the USB port (in the router interface or with my TV on wifi).

No more responses from DLINK so far, and I am running 1.01b09 for three days now with no problems, only the popup (new firmware available) when accessing the router interface. Too bad, copying speed from my computer to the attached external HDD seemed to increase (30+ MB/s) with the newer fw. I still think 30+ MB/s is a little  slow.

• Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
• What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
• Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
• What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
• Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.
• Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values
• For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.

Wireless Configurations

• Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Ensure that different SSID names are used between each WiFi 2.4/5Ghz radios. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighbouring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
• What wireless modes are you using?
• 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or AC on 5Ghz?
• Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
• Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.
• What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto TPIK and AES.
• What wireless devices do you have connected?
• Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.
• Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
• Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

Router Placement

3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
