New website issues
« on: June 22, 2009, 09:40:41 AM »

I don't see any forum category to post this in, so I'm posting in the forum for the router I use.  With the new website, I cannot find any place to browse information on my router like I used to, or to use the emulator, or to view firmware releases.  I'm having a very difficult time locating information on other D-Link products when I recommend products for friends, help with a problem, or link to drivers or firmware.  I can't find the DIR-655 (or any of the DIR routers) on the FTP linked to on the website.  I also cannot open any of the links for the FAQ, such as "how do I upgrade my firmware" in firefox or IE8.  I couldn't even find how to get to the D-Link forums a few days ago--I had to google to find it!  Am I the only one having all of these issues?  Have you all tried the new website to browse anything related to your DIR-655 or products you use in conjunction with it, such as a DWA-652, the old green/gray MIMO PCMCIA card, or switches?

3 clicks and I got to the product page.

Edit: Choose America as my home country and saw the new website. Yes your right. its the most un-intuitive website i've seen. horrible just plain bad.

I went to the product quick find window, slelected DIR-655 from the drop down menu, then slected "resources" and everything that was mentioned earlier is displayed in the resulting menu.

2 clicks to get there.

And here I was being told from all sides we needed more useless flash on the tubes of the interwebs (both figurative, and the Adobe product).

Ahh...there it all is.  I spent a lot of time trying to find something like that.  I never even noticed the product quick find at the top, and I would've eventually clicked on resources once on the DIR-655 page but I would've looked around more because I've never used a website layout for support of a product which used the word "resources" in such a way...or as the second tab.  I would expect "support" instead of "resources, and as the last or second-to-last tab instead of the #2 spot.

Thanks, y'all!

Make sure your complaint to D-Link Customer Service includes the name "Fatman" and words like "crazy" and "fired" in big bold letters.

Freedom (of speech) has it's limits. If it didn't have those limits we would be back in the Neanderthaler age in no time.
It wasn't very nice what you said and very offtopic to say the least.

I respectfully disagree, the only limits to freedom of speech I am aware of are the below.

  • Slander or Libel
  • Speech that creates a clear and present danger
  • Speech that incites immediate lawless action

Even these I don't want to see the restriction unless you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that one of these is true.  Even if no where else the intertubes needs to be a land free of censors.

That said, keep it up and I will remove all such posts.

P.S. Anyone who can't see this is tongue in cheek has serious issues, and should not read anything I write.

P.P.S Unfortunately it is also true that this is a private forum and as much as I like freedom of speech, there are other places for that.  I didn't chose or make this system, and you all agreed to it when you joined.

P.P.P.S For anyone still confused Clancy and I are just goofing off, we mean nothing by it (I hope).  As for Demonized, I think he is just trying to get in on the games.\

P.P.P.P.S Did someone say offtopic?

I am sorry to hear that, I really am.  And here I thought we were all just starting to really chum it up.
