DNS-320L Adding HDD and reading existing HDD

I have bought a ShareCenter DNS-320L sometime ago and happy with it ..

I have some question here.. hope expert here can enlighten me ..
1. During my first setup, I set it up with (ONE) WD Green 4TB HDD and setup as Standard (RaidType).
if I add another HDD in, maybe 2TB, still remain Standard(RaidType), can I just format the 2TB HDD without disturbing my 4TB HDD? because I want to view it as 2 different drives

2. In-case anything wrong with the DNS-320L but the HDD is ok, how can I extract the file from the HDD?
