Firmware update offered for MyDlink lite app on my smartphone. Accepted.
Update failure! A Red "'X" is now shown instead of the usual Green check mark.
Closed app. Powered off/on the phone. Red "X' remains.
Got home and found the camera itself has a solid Red light glowing in back.
Reset camera. Powered off/on camera. No luck. 
What kind of "upgrade" is this that renders the whole system totally useless?

I recommend updating using a PC wired to the LAN side of the router with the camera and do the upgrade while the camera is connected to a LAN cable connection. Wireless connections can introduce problems during FW updates especially if there is wireless interferences from external sources.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

I have solved this problem by deleting then re-installing the camera. Next time I am offered an FW upgrade, I will take the advice of using a wired connection to the phone. Thanks.

I was prompted to update firmware version from v104_b1 on 10-29-2014 to the latest version via the Dlink app on my Iphone, before i did this i connected an ethernet cable as recommended and proceeded with the update, after the camera rebooted  everything seemed fine so i disconnected the ethernet cable and the red light stayed lit. I rebooted the camera several times (also rebooted router Asus RT n66u) hoping that would fix the problem. I reconnected the ethernet to gain access to the settings page and reconfigured the wireless settings but after rebooting again, still no wireless connection, after fooling with the camera for an hour i had to back up the firmware to the previous version. Once this was accomplished the wireless connected immediately. I believe there is a flaw in this upgrade, the IOS app still prompts me to upgrade but until this is resolved at Dlink i will ignore it. I'm happy this camera will let you revert to a previous version.

I had the exact same problem with firmware 1.05_b5.   Wireless would not work if I had extender mode enabled  I had to back out to the prior firmware.   Hope Dlink fixes this issue

How are you upgrading the DCS? Over wired or wireless?

Was a factor reset performed before upgrading?

Hi, no factory reset was done, ethernet wired connection was used.
