Problem with DHCP and Internet through wireless
« on: June 23, 2009, 11:19:35 PM »

So I have this DIR-615 Router, and everything worked fine even more fine than a simple search on google would tell. Until yesterday. I have a DIR-615 with Hardware version D1 and firmware 4.11

This is my problem:
On my laptops (or any wireless unit) I can't reach the external network (the Internet) through the router with wireless connection. When configured for DHCP the laptops don't even get any IP-numbers over wireless connection. On a wired cable computer no problems appear what so ever with DHCP or Internet access. This problem occurred without any reason or power failure in my house

What I've tried so far
1. Reboot the router, doesn't work.
2. Reset the router setup to manufacturer standard, doesn't work.
3. Updated Firmware from 4.00 to 4.11, doesn't work.
4. Tried to apply a static IP to one of the wireless laptops, the router got me to the internet one time! then blocked me again. Now it doesn't work anymore. with static IP I can reach the internal network.
5. Shut off wireless mode, waited a while and put it back on again. doesn't work.
6. changed every wireless settings, SSID-name and password. The router sends out all information and can verify security and SSID-name, but in any other way it Doesn't work
7. Tried different security setups, from no password to WEP and WPA. Doesn't work.
8. Tried other computers, same problems.
9. Tried to put the computer in the DMZ-mode, doesn't work.
10. Contacted the D-Link support, no answer yet.

So now I'm starting to get pissed off (hard word, not so mad actually)
But so far I've isolated the problem to the wireless part of the router
With DHCP I cant reach nothing
and with static IP I can reach internal network.

So.. Anyone have a suggestion what to do?

Check the Internet security software / firewall installed on each wireless PCs.  Several Internet security softwares / firewall must be told to trust the wireless network name (aka SSID) before letting the adapter get an IP address or letting IP traffic thru.

This is basically the same problem that a lot of us are having. Most just simply talk about having to reboot the device every hour/day to fix it.
