Hello,
For the past year (it's been a pretty long time) we've had serious problems with our internet. The problems have ranged from turning off multiple times a day, to not working for 3 days straight, to just massive ping spikes. In our house we have 6 people so it equates to a ton of devices on the network. I've called our internet provider and DLink countless times and there doesn't seem to be a fix. I'm guessing between all the netflix shows and gaming, we just don't have enough internet to go around which is understandable. This leads me to my question, since we have so many devices connected, is there a way to go into the router and put a cap on each device? For the most part we play games, and when someone jumps on the internet, it drives our ping from a manageable ~100 to over 500... which is absolutely unbearable. if you've ever played LoL, you know the pain...
I read in another post that there might be a way to give priority to computers in the house but I lack the router savvyness to get anything to work. If there's anything you can do to help, that would be great.
- Additional information ----- Router is a DIR-655 (hence the forum) ---- IP is Charter. Sorry if this question was posted before, I did a light overview of the forums but I won't lie and say I went through the hundreds of pages of forum posts. Cheers!
