Author Topic: Can RAID1 drives used in DNS-320 be transferred directly to DNS-320L?  (Read 2890 times)

Hi All,

I have been using two HDDs configured as RAID1 in a DNS-320. However, one of the drives have been failing SMART tests.

Since then, I've bought a DNS-320L to see if it is actually the DNS-320's bay which is giving problem or if the HDD is.

A question though: can HDDs from DNS-320 be transferred directly to DNS-320L and up-and-running immediately?

Not sure about RAID1 but in JBOD mode the dns-320 and dns-320l use different filesystem formats and you have reformat the disks:

Unfortunately, no.
I'm planning to do the same.

Could something like this work?

1- take  one HDD from DNS-320 and moving it to DNS-320L
2- format the HDD in the DNS-320L
3- start transfer from the DNS-320 HDD to DNS-320L HDD
4- once transfer is finish move the second HDD to DNS-320L and set it again as Raid1
