Still not able to connect to the remote cams... will try the Teamviewer method once I get the store owner to install on store pc

Well, Well, Well, after enabling Port Forwarding ON the 933L camera thru it's web page, I'm actually able to access the camera now from work using IE11:  ::)

So did Dlink change something in the last firmware update that changed this? Curious why it quit working 3 weeks ago..

Looks like I'll have to visit the store and access camera setup on the cameras to update....

I'll see if I can find out anything and mention this PF. If you can get the store owner to install teamviewer for you at the store then it would save a trip.

So D-Link can't seem to reproduce the issue at hand here. Saw screen shots of remote access to cameras at home. Models 5020L and 5222Ls tested. Router tested is a DIR-890L that the cameras are connected to.

They walked me thru the Advanced Settings that can be accessed from the MDL site once you gain access.  ::) It opened up the actual cameras web page UI.
So after looking at this. I decided to disable PF on the 933L camera and reboot it. I used IE11 so I already had other tabs open to other sites. I just closed the MDL tab then reopened an new tab. Logged in to MDL and selected the 933L. I could still access the camera and video. One more test step. I fully closed IE and cleared the cache. Reopened IE11 and logged into the MDL site. Selected the 933L camera and I could NOT access the camera.  >:( I did stress to D-Link that the main issue is that users can't even get access to cameras once logged into the MDL site.  :-\

It was mentioned that there maybe an issue with uPnP found on routers which due to recent uPnP security issues found over the past couple of years, more stricter uPnP code was implemented on routers, at least with D-Link I presume. Unsure what other Mfrs have done. This new uPnP code maybe playing a role in how MDL and Cameras are interacting with there connected routers and it's uPnP code.

I'm currently using a older 865L router which were not sure if it's uPnP code was updated and I don't know if uPnP security issue even effected it. I did make note to D-Link that the last 3 newer model routers I have tested with did not work using default settings on the 933L camera which PF is disabled. I'll be putting back my DIR-980L this weekend and attempt to test the 933L again with PF disabled and enabled and check again from work next Monday to see what I find.

D-Link will have a look and see. Next FW release may help all of this, we hope. Please be patient. For now, if the PF enable helps fix this as a work around, then use it until next FW on the cameras.

Will post if I get any other information. All for now.  8)

Great assessment... Hoping they decide to dig a little deeper.... but as you said, If PF can resolve in the short term, I'll give it a shot.. hopefully tomorrow, I'll be connected via TeamViewer, and can make the adjustments.

Thanks guys -- I wish there were a like/thanks button!  You've made a lot of progress on the issue!  Also glad to see that TeamViewer is helpful.  I NEVER leave home without it, LOL.  Actually, I use it on my phone to access my home machines and it's great, though I mostly use it to access work from home.  So many great features...drag and drop file transfer, white board, video conferencing/chat.  Hard to believe it's free.

Thanks guys -- I wish there were a like/thanks button!  You've made a lot of progress on the issue!  Also glad to see that TeamViewer is helpful.  I NEVER leave home without it, LOL.  Actually, I use it on my phone to access my home machines and it's great, though I mostly use it to access work from home.  So many great features...drag and drop file transfer, white board, video conferencing/chat.  Hard to believe it's free.

I think the camera's uPnP Port Forwarding settings might make a difference when accessing through older routers since the FW update.

I have six cameras in all:  three 932Ls, one 930L, and one 5020L running wirelessly through a DIR 826L at my vacation home in SC.  All were visible through the myDlink.com site after the recent firmware upgrade.  All uPnP settings are disabled.

I also have one 930L running via w-fi through a DIR 625 in my home here in Alaska that I have not been able to see via the myDlink.com site since the recent FW update.  I could access it without difficulty via its IP address, the mobile app, and LiveCam Pro (a nice little mobile app).  After reading the above, I tried enabling uPnP Port Forwarding on this 930L through IP access and can now view it through myDlink.com from work.

Thanks for the idea and hope this helps someone else figure it out, too!

Possible that your DIR-625 maybe come out dated and incompatible in regards to the camera it's connected with and uPnP. Since the 625 isn't developed on any more and they are still developing for the camera, the connection between the two may not work, even with a FW update on the camera.

We hope new FW will fix this issue however.

I had to read this a few times before I realized how detailed it is!  For example, it didn't click at first that you CAN'T access the advanced tab (which as you noted, gives you a remote back-door into your camera UI) UNTIL you can access your camera remotely with MDL.  Duh...I had forgotten about this neat feature, but you're right, it begs the question.  No point in having it until the problem is basically fixed.

Second, what you're describing sounds pretty convincing to me that it's the way UPNP and/or PF is implemented on the camera.  Maybe the DLink guys disagree.

While this has a sort of truthiness to it, it doesn't leave me convinced.  In particular, since I'm running a fairly recent build of Shibby's Tomato on my router, I'm reasonably confident that the latest security issues are covered (I COULD be 100% wrong -- it's just a guess).  My gut feeling is that router hardware is not a limiting factor, though if in fact someone hasn't updated their router firmware in a year or longer, yeah sure it could be a problem.  But I think my particular circumstances suggest it's not due to something on the router side.  A more subtle possibility is that whatever DLink has done to work through the Java issues might be INTERACTING with a standard security feature on our routers, which is the problem.  That would be hard to diagnose, until we knew how common/widespread the issue is.  Given they've sold millions of cameras and have 10s or 100s of thousands of people using MDL, and they're not all screaming bloody murder here, I'm guessing the issue is limited in scope.

Did you set up the security exceptions again and add mydlink to the java list?

FYI, I stumbled upon this problem with a java based web email platform. Basically since Java 8 version 20, you can NOT totally except security problems. Possibly related?

"Starting with Java 8 Update 20, the Medium security level has been removed from the Java Control Panel. Only High and Very High levels are available.

The exception site list provides users with the option of allowing the same applets that would have been allowed by selecting the Medium option but on a site-by-site basis therefore minimizing the risk of using more permissive settings."
