Does anyone have any insight as to why my 890L disconnects from my modem (SB6141) at random times?  Most of the time all I have to do is restart the router.  Sometimes I have to restart both.  Reading the logs of the modem, I do not see any issues there.  This was all on the original firmware.  I upgraded to 1.02 today and it has not done it since, but it has only been 2 hours.

• What region are you located?
• Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
• Has a Factory Reset been performed?
• Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
• What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
• Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.

I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For DSL or Fiber service lines, ensure that the ISP is using good working phone or cable lines to the DSL modem and that the phone lines are filtered correctly. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. I recommend having the ISP service physically check the lines going from the out side to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

• Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something that's already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
• What wireless modes are you using?
• What wireless devices do you have connected?
• Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.
• Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
• Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many? Use v3, its free.

Router Placement

3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

I am located in the US.  1.02 showed up under the upgrade page last evening.   

I have clients that are wired and some that are wireless.  When the connection drops, it drops for all clients.

I have performed a factory reset.  It was done before and after the update. 

I have had the cabling checked in my house and from my house.  It is all RG6.  All of the Ethernet cables inside my house are cat 5e.  There are no splitters on the cable line feeding my modem.  It is the only service that is coming in over that line.

I did not have this issue with my Netgear R7000.  That would maintain a connection unless I did something to disrupt it.

I am the only one using the wifi channels that I selected. 

Cox is my ISP and I subscribe to the 150 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up service.  I have no speed issues with the router.  The speeds I get with this are faster than the I was getting with my R7000.

I haven't seen any issues on my 890L.
Whats the WAN port speeds set for? Try 1000Mb...

Was the router dropping connections on v1.00?

Had the exact same issue, fortunately I have two of the same things, my advice is to flash it back to the original Firmware!

Do you see any T3's or anything marked critical? Also make sure you have clean power to both devices. I use a Tripp Lite Isobar. I keep my computer on a completely different outlet on a UPS. Probably overkill but try the modem on it's own outlet and see if it's any better. Last, make sure your using the power adapter that came with the modem. Sometimes Cox gives out refurbished units and put in the wrong power adapter.
