DCS-5222L-B1: HD resolution not available on DLink Lite app?
« on: February 17, 2015, 08:52:26 AM »

Hello there,

I've just finish setting up my DCS-5222L-B1, I have setup 3 video profile in "Audio and Video" under the "Setup" menu within the built-in interface.

Video is set at 16:9, and the first profile is 1280x720, H.264 and maximum 25 fps.

However when I launch my Dlink Lite app, I cannot select this resolution at all, it only shows 2 profiles, 240p and 480p.

The 240p profile is using H.264 but the 480p profile is using MJPEG.

I've tried to change the 2 profiles in the "Setup" menu many times (the 3rd profile is dimmed and cannot be changed), and even tried rebooting the device after saving the profile. I've also tried shutting down the Dlink Lite app a few times and restarting.

Still I can only see the 240p and 480p profiles.

Can anyone explain how can I select the HD profiles I've defined in the "Setup" menu?

Thanks.
- Howard

The mydlink mobile apps may impose 240p/480p resolutions (depending on the camera model). I asked D-Link for clarification and will post back if I learn more.  :-\

I noticed the same issue as the original poster.
The mydlink lite app lets you see only 240 or 480p, which is a shame.
Other apps (like tinycam monitor pro) let you see the 720p video.

Also, I sent dlink an email and was promptly dismissed by them.
I told them to enable a "background audio" feature in their app - so I could keep the audio going while I used other apps on my galaxy s4.
They simply said, NO, it does not do that.
When I asked them to add it to a "requested features" list - I got no reply.
Geez, thanks dlink for caring what your customers (who paid for your products) are asking for - not !

I can verify that improvements related to video resolution in the mobile apps are in development, no details or ETA as of yet... stay patient  ;)

Any idea if the paid mobile app (dlink+) shares the same problem or not? I don't want to spend money on a paid app just to find out it's got the same bug...

Thanks.

I believe this limitation is global across all flavors of mydlink mobile apps. Good changes are coming, just be patient.
