Optimal Torrent Settings?
« on: June 29, 2009, 06:56:59 PM »

Hi Developers,

I'm currently using uTorrent to download torrents. What are the most optimal settings for the torrent protocol (In general, things like upnp, peer discovery, etc) for this router? I notice that with firmware 1.20 I have to reboot after a while because the overwhelming traffic kills the router's performance over time. Currently I have my client to use the following connection settings:

Global maximum number of connections: 850
Maximum number of connected peers per torrent: 125
Number of upload slots per torrent: 30

(No bandwidth limitations)

Hell, if I was your router I'd die from that also.

200 is the maximum simultaneous connections that it can currently handle.

It wouldn't need to be reset if you didn't have so many global connections.  You are literally flooding that statetable and causing it to come to a halt.

Thanks for the info. It's a bit disappointing that it can only handle 200 max connections, if what you say is true. I spent hundreds of dollars on this router and I expected more.

the router can handle alot more than 200 simultaneous connections. Just because smallnetbuilder doesnt have the software ability to run a test that can do more than 200 connections, doesnt mean this router cannot handle more.

With firmware 1.15 and lower I was able to get alot more connections running simultaneously, bt with 1.20 and 1.21 the router chokes after a while

Upgrade must be the new downgrade.
