Can't access via web browser
« on: March 14, 2015, 02:59:53 PM »

I get a blank page whenever I try to access the admin tools via web browser. The page loads but it is blank.

Tried on Safari, Firefox, Chrome. Running 1.04 firmware. And I am directly connected; Mac to 868L router.

I have reset the router and connected successfully. But once I conclude customizing the settings, the web interface cannot be accessed. Perhaps I am doing something in the set-up that is getting in the way?

Any help is welcome. Thanks.

  • What region are you located?

  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

PC Web Browser Configurations
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.

USA West Coast.
ISP is a cable modem. However, I am not currently using the internet functionality for this router. Another router handles DHCP. This one is used for wireless only.
Understood re. 3rd party security software and browser add ons.

What is the Mfr and model # of the ISP modem and the primary router?

Are you using the 868L in wired AP mode as seen here?

Thank you for your replies.

Cable modem is Arris CM820A.
Primary router is Dlink 655.

I have followed the steps in the "Router to AP" link.

If you remove the 868L from the 655 and wire up a PC to the 868L can change to router mode on the 868L, does the same thing happen?

If so, you might do the FW update to v1.09.

There a reason that your not using the 868L as your main host router?

My 655 router and cable modem are in the basement which makes for poor wifi coverage, so the 686L is more centrally located.

The same thing happens whether I'm connected to the 655 or connecting the 686 directly to one of my computers.

I had 1.09 firmware loaded but downgraded to 1.04 in hopes that would help.

Two other things: It had been working fine for weeks and suddenly not. I got an orange globe under the power light. It remains orange except when I do a reset.

Please follow this and re-apply the v1.09 FW again, set up from scratch and set up the 868L as an AP:
FW Update Process

I have my 868L online currently and using v1.09 FW using my Mac Book Pro 2007 with OSX 10.10.2 loaded. Assessing the routers UI is not a problem for me...

Slight correction: I can access the web interface now when I'm connected directly to my Mac.

Anything I should try first before updating to 1.09 again?

When the problem happens, are you connecting at the 655 thru that router to the 868L?

What is the IP address you assign to the 868L in AP mode?

That's correct. It happens when I'm connecting thru the 655.

Each router has different addresses (that fall within the correct range) and nothing else on my network has a duplicated IP address.

Does it seem like there's a conflict somewhere and that's the root cause?

What is the IP address you set in the 868L in AP mode and what is your DHCP IP address pool range on the 655? 192.168.0.100 thru .199?

What is the Rev # and FW version of the 655?

First of all, thanks for you assistance on this. Very much appreciated.

655 hardware version is A3. Firmware is 1.31NA.

Range is 100 thru 199

868L is currently at 101.

Ok, Set the IP address on the 868L to 192.168.0.86, and not .101. This should fix this. If the IP address is with in the 655s pool range then the 655 is hindering a correct connection to the 868L. The 868L doesn't need to be with in the pool of addresses on the 655 as it doesn't need any management by the 655.

Well, that was certainly a problem but unfortunately not the problem.

IP address has been corrected for the 686L and now falls outside the range.

However it is still only accessible when connected directly to a computer.

On the 868L, should Enable DNS Relay be checked or unchecked (or does it matter?)
