DIR 655 AND DWA 552 COMBO
« on: June 30, 2009, 10:23:14 PM »

I have a Vista computer and am considering the DIR 655 Router, because of its good reviews.  I do not have PCI Xpress and I have had problems with USB Wireless LAN, so the DWA 552 seems the obvious choice.  However, there seem to be alot of complaints concerning the DWA 552 when running on a Vista Machine.

Will the DIR 655 work well with other Draft N PCI LAN cards on a Vista Machine?

Is there a better Draft N Router/PCI LAN card combination in lieu of the 655/552 on a Vista machine?

The dwa 552 works fine. Get the D-links $28  Triple antenna as well.

Then use latest Atheros drivers, instead of the once on a Dlink site.

Hi marose1,

I have that combination of Router and Wireless Adapter Card. I am using Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 and the Release Drivers for Windows Vista 32-bit running under Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Release Candidate and I have not experience any problems. I never ran Vista as a Retail Version.
