Hello.

Recently I've been trying to get my PC to add a wireless display. It doesn't appear to be supported, and I'm assuming the culprit is my DWA-160? Both Windows 8.1 and 10 (both of which I've tried) are certainly able to do this. There's no other hardware that should be to blame then, I'd assume? (Although my system isn't exactly new... it's an AMD Phenom Triple core).

Assuming I'm correct, I expected a simple google search of "Wifi Adapters with Miracast support"  or some variation would turn up some results. I searched for Wi-di, Wifi direct, all different sorts, and am literally coming up blank. Surely this must be a common enough issue that there'd be some info out there on what I need.

Is it possible to do what I want with any 3rd party adapters, and if so, how on earth can I confirm that before I buy one?

Edit: Just a further clarification, I do know the issue as at the PC end, as the option to "Add a wireless display" will not appear, and have confirmed with Microsoft support that if this option isn't there, my PC does not support it. I've also successfully used the receiver (screen) with other devices, such as my Android phone.

D-Link DWA adapters are designed for used on PCs or laptops with driver supported installation. Drivers are needed to be used and installed to get the DWA adapter working to provide a wireless connection between the PC/LT and the main host wifi router or wireless AP. You'll need to contact the Mfr of Miracast to see what is actually needed and what they support in getting there product connected. You might contact D-Link to see if there is a non PC wireless direct adapter that they might have available for use with 3rd party products.
